I’m loving life now, but as I get older and think about growing up—those were the days. I took care of my dad for a season, and I’m grateful for it because we became best friends. He was watching a lot of old movies from his youth and listening to music like Frank Sinatra. Watching his smiling expression as he enjoyed his “wonder years” through nostalgia was wonderful. I’ve been drifting toward that same nostalgic feeling, and I want to share it with my art.
I grew up in the 70s and 80s—so grateful to grow up in that era: heading out in the morning to play and not coming back until lunch or dinner; riding bikes for miles; getting lost on purpose so we’d have to find our way home. Making forts in the woods; baseball and soccer; class trips; drawing and coloring whatever I wished! I’ve been a commission-based artist for the majority of my career, happily creating art for others. Now I’m taking time to draw and paint glimpses of my childhood to transport me back in time for a moment and relive my fondest memories of growing up. I look forward to the challenge; please feel free to join me!
